Devlog [12/12/2024]: Big Update


Lots of additions this time around, hope you enjoy. Finally starting to shape up into an actual game.

Update 12/12/2024

  • Weapons added and assigned to the starter ship of players and characters: Mining Laser Turret, Energy Railgun Hardpoint Weapon x2.
  • Added interface Icons to allow toggling turrets on/off, Mining Laser Turret will automatically mine ore from your target if it is an asteroid and within range if turret is turned on.
  • Hardpoint weapons automatically fire when Left-clicking.
  • Added Ship Shields/Armor/Hull display to space-interface to show your ships current status.
  • Local and non Local AI for trading now works, AI will trade wares for profit between various stations.
  • Local mining AI works, AI undocks, mines ore, finds appropriate station to sell at, docks, and sells ore, then idles for a short time depending on their personality traits.
  • Simulated mining works, it now functions properly operating in the same way as local mining just without gameobjects.
  • Mining and selling ore raises Mining and Trading expertise experience respectively.
  • For every level above 1 in Mining expertise decreases mining laser cycleTime by 1% and increases mining yield by 1%.
  • For every level above 1 in Trading expertise 1% better prices when buying/selling and 1% increase in cargo hold capacity of your ships.
  • Trading expertise can be leveled up by trading wares for profits.
  • Added ship inventory window which can be dragged around by clicking and dragging the header window, can access it by hitting the 'I' key.
  • Items can be dragged and dropped from your ship inventory to your station assets inventory and vice-versa.
  • Procedurally generates 5 authorities each with 200 members to populate the universe for testing now at start after creating sectors, the color of the border of the sector is the authorities logo colors blended together.
  • Added 6 more Tier 1 materials and the stations that produce them, now all solid base materials have a use, most gasses have a use and some liquids as well. However there is still no way to obtain gasses or liquids yet.

To Do List:

  • Add ability to minimize interface windows.
  • Add damage from Hardpoint weapons, current no damage is applied when something is hit by the fired projectile.
  • Add ability for AI to detect when they are attacked and temporarily make the attacker hostile and fight back, decreasing reputation of attacker scaling on damage received.
  • Add combat sites the player and npcs can ward to and fight generic NPC ships (basically like space pirate bases) that will grow in power the longer they are left unchecked, resulting in potential invasions of local space if nobody destroys the base for a while.
